Rakugaki Kingdom has announced its end of service, with servers to go offline on 2 November 2021, 14:00 JST. The announcement can be found on Taito‘s website here. The game experienced a few hiccups, with a delayed launch meant for first Winter 2019, then Summer 2020, before finally going online January 2021. With this end of service notice, Rakugaki Kingdom barely even managed to run for a year. In-app purchases have since been halted, with the channel open for any refunds as needed.
It would seem that even with the Hololive collaboration, it did not gather enough maintained interest to keep the game running. The game was supposed to be a new addition to the Graffiti Kingdom series, the last title being a PS2 title. The mobile version saw you design your own creation before you brought them to life as 3D models.
It’s unfortunate that the game did not manage to spark a dedicated enough following, as the concept itself is pretty interesting. It’s not unusual for companies to try revive old series’ as mobile titles, some of which are certainly more successful than others. We’ll have to see if someday a proper console title will be made but for now, Rakugaki Kingdom will be laid to rest once more.
