Ragnarok Online Mobile, developed by Gravity and published by Xindong, was released recently in China on October 28th for their autumn test. It is an entirely new gameplay that is incomparable with a PC version. However there are plenty of unique additions to the game that makes it interesting as a mobile MMORPG.
Class
In the Autumn Test that was released, players have access to 5 main classes and 3 job changes from the PC version. They are; Swordman>Knight>Rune Knight, Mage>Wizard>High Wizard, Archer> Hunter>Sniper, Thief> Assassin> Guillotine Cross, and Acolyte>Priest>High Priest. As we can see in the screenshots above, the developers has enhanced the visuals of the characters into 3D figures for the mobile. Once players have completed their Novice Training, players will be able to choose preferred class at the Prontera Class Hall.
Dungeons
Like most MMORPG, players explore dungeons and there are a variety of it in the game. There are certain times when players will encounter “cracks” in the dungeons which require players to team up with others to fix it. Rare drops of materials and equipment can be attained when completing the “crack” mission. However players can only play it up to 5 times. On another note, players can also participate in Guild Dungeons that awards players with contribution points which is used for increasing the character’s attribute points.
Adventurer Book
The game comes with a special achievement system. To name them, they are Monsters, Headgears, NPCs, Sceneries and Monster Cards. As players unlock more of the achievements, players will attain higher adventure exp when they level up which will help them to learn special skills. One of the most unique features of this game is that players are able to use the 360°Game Camera to take scenery pictures for the unlockables. This means players will need to explore every corner of the fantasy world to gain the achievement.
Skills
The game offers two skill systems. The class skill and adventure skill. By collecting adventure points based on the Adventure Book, players can learn adventure skills which will cost players their adventure points and Zeny (in-game currency). The adventure skills helps boost player experience in the game.
Auto-Fight
Auto-fight function is common in mobile MMORPGs. However in the game, players may encounter passive aggressive monsters. This may cost players their death which inflicts players with an amount of exp penalty based on the level. Thus, players will really need to be vary of their surroundings when on Auto-fight mode or players can team up in a party for better survivability. In addition to that, there is also a monster-lock auto-fight system to allow players to hunt specific monsters only.
Emotes
One of the key features of RO mobile is the adorable emotes in game. Some emotes in the game are special. They can only be attained from quest rewards or learn it from different NPCs to add them to your collection.
CDs
Another interesting addition in the game is the music. Players are able to attain their favourite music CDs and share it publicly.
Chat Rooms
Just like any other MMORPGs, chat rooms are common. However in this game, players can set up to a 10 players chat room where players can interact via the normal text message or voice message.
While the game has been launching their tests in China, launching the game globally is part of the plan. So we can expect an English version to be available soon.
