Cygames‘ Rage of Bahamut will essentially “end” its story with the release of one final event on 31 January 2022. This announcement is quite a poignant one, considering how the game celebrated an entire decade of service AND the release of their corporate music videos celebrating the so-called “Cygames All-Stars”. Once the final story event releases, there will be plans to allow players to play previous events.
Likewise, the gacha will also no longer be updated past 28 February 2022. As such, there will be changes to the cost and content for the gacha system, including a “mileage system” which should work similarly to a “spark”. Further details about the updates and campaigns between now till the last event will be released in a director’s letter at the end of December 2021.
The announcement does not officially state a complete “end” to Rage of Bahamut, wherein servers will be shut down by the given date. Still, no content updates only mean that there won’t be more reasons to stick around. With how long the game has been running, one wonders if there will be some kind of offline mode or archive for all the past stories.
Plenty of the characters from the game have made appearances in other Cygames’ properties, so they’ll always live on. While the English version of Rage of Bahamut was short-lived, let’s at least see where this will go.
