Star Wars: Rivals has been available as a soft launch for a while now, so here is a quick overview of the game to give you an idea of what it is.
Instead of adopting a genre that one would not usually associate the franchise with such as puzzles, all you do in Star Wars: Rivals is to shoot Stormtroopers, which isn’t a bad thing. Despite being a simple on-rails shooter, the game relies on quite a bit of strategy, as a well-placed shot to the head will net you the best results. In addition, you have to watch the heat levels of your weapons so that it does not overheat.
Threats come in the form Stormtroopers that actually fire back, and while their inaccuracy is legendary, stand around long enough and they will eventually get a shot in. If the AI just cut it for you, there is also a multiplayer PVP mode where you can take the fight online with strangers with your team of three. Star Wars: Rivals is definitely one for the fans, but casual gamers may fight something to like here as well.
