PUBG Mobile, one of the biggest battle royale games currently available in the market, broke through 1 billion downloads, according to Tencent.
The Chinese conglomerate announced this monumental achievement during the game’s 3rd Anniversary party live stream on YouTube. You can watch the hour and a half-long live stream here:
As a game that defined a genre, going mobile is undoubtedly a successful decision for PUBG. Since its release in March of 2018, the game exploded in terms of popularity. Last year, the game was the highest-earning mobile game according to Sensor Tower. Assuming that each of the 1 billion downloads is done by a different individual, more than 10% of the human population has downloaded the game.
Furthermore, the game also revealed major new content during the 3rd Anniversary live stream. Players will be getting a Godzilla vs. Kong collaboration. In addition, players can try out the upcoming 2×2 kilometre map named Karakin in the future.
Besides that, DJs Alesso, Lost Frequencies and R3HAB who performed live during the 3rd Anniversary party will also have their music featured in-game. Players can listen to their tunes and vibe to their music on Spawn Island and Cheer Park.
