PUBG Mobile hosted a special presentation at this year’s Level Up Play, organised by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC)! The game was present at the two-day gaming festival, with support from official title sponsor, vivo. They were at the event to announce the upcoming PUBG Mobile Club Open (PMCO) 2019 Fall Split Global Finals. Also present were Yang Berhormat Tuan Syed Saddiq bin Syed Abdul Rahman, Minister of Youth and Sports in Malaysia, alongside James Yang, Director of PUBG MOBILE Global esports at Tencent Games.
PMCO 2019 is the global competitive season for PUBG Mobile. The inaugural Fall Split Global Finals of PMCO 2019 for the world’s highest grossing smartphone game is also the world’s largest mobile esports tournament to date. 16 pro and semi-pro teams from 10 regions around the world will battle it out for the top prize. PMCO is the start of PUBG Mobile’s esports ecosystem where skillful players can organically grow into professional teams. They will vie for a total prize pool of USD$2.5 million.
Mike Xu, Chief Executive Officer of vivo Malaysia had this to say:
With the development of technology today, the PMCO Tournament is a form of collaboration between sports and technology. We are proud to be able to participate in this great tournament while introducing our latest product, V17 Pro. Vivo V17 Pro comes with 6 Cameras to Shoot Beyond Limits, it also comes with an optimised Game Mode that brings out a smooth new gaming experience. As the official smartphone of PMCO 2019 autumn stage of the Southeast Asia Final, V17 pro ensures players can enjoy a more exhilarating game performance with the Multi-Turbo acceleration technology.
Likewise, YB Syed Saddiq also commented:
We are both honored and proud that PUBG MOBILE has selected Kuala Lumpur as the venue for their largest, most anticipated mobile esports tournament of the year. Malaysia has continually risen to become one of the most progressive esports countries in the region, and now with the backing of a major esports name like PUBG MOBILE, our local industry is well-positioned to accelerate its development from grassroots levels to reach international status and acclaim.
Cosplayers, streamers, and celebrities were also among the audience during PUBG Mobile’s special PMCO 2019 presentation. The game’s participation at Level Up Play aimed to boost the event’s profile as a regional gaming event. PUBG Mobile has also been sponsoring and partnering other events during the lead-up months to the PMCO 2019 Fall Split Global Finals. There was Vanke’s “Run for Fun” 5km running event, Yoodo’s Malaysia Campus Championship, a partnership with Hungry Food Delivery app and a massive metamorphosis of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) station near PWTC to become the first interactive esports station in Kuala Lumpur.
James Yang had a few words to say:
PUBG MOBILE is very pleased to be welcomed by the people of Malaysia to host our flagship PMCO 2019 championship here in Kuala Lumpur. In the Southeast Asian region, Malaysians are among the strongest supporters of PUBG MOBILE, and we are glad to have this opportunity to give something back to our loyal fans, as well as support local businesses in our preparations for the Global Finals through special partnerships and collaborations.
