Earlier this year, PUBG Corp., the studio behind PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite have got into a legal battle where PUBG Corp. filed a lawsuit alleging copyright infringement against Epic Games. Surprisingly, PUBG Corp. drops the lawsuit against Epic Games recently.
Both PUBG and Fortnite are part-owned by Tencent Games, and although their battle royale modes have a slight difference in gameplay and design, they still share a lot of similarities. For example, both games start a match with 100 players paragliding down to battle and run as a storm approaches from the outskirts of the map, in the end the last man standing wins.
The legal battle against the two extremely popular battle-royale game is now over, although we don’t know why nor is there any settlement made between PUBG and Epic Games. Glad the case ended peacefully!
