Capitalising on the 3D audio features added to the PS5 in this month’s update, a new colour for PlayStation’s Pulse 3D Headset is revealed.
The headset will launch in Southeast Asia on October 29, 2021 with the new colour, Midnight Black, matching the colour scheme of the DualSense Midnight Black wireless controller. It will be priced at SGD149 / MYR469 / IDR1,699,000 / THB3,490 / PHP5,590 / VND2,699,000.
While all PS5-compatible headsets can be used to experience 3D Audio with PS5 games, the Pulse 3D headset is specifically designed to take full advantage of the console’s Tempest 3D AudioTech, with a fine-tuned frequency response to help players more precisely place sounds in exact locations to match on-screen gameplay.
The headset will be able to make use of the new equalizer control feature within the PS5’s sound settings that was added in the September update. This feature lets users fine-tune their audio preferences by choosing between three presets — Standard, Bass Boost, or Shooter, the latter enhancing footsteps and gunfire sounds. In addition, users can also customise and create their own presets, with up to three settings being able to be saved and accessed on the fly. Equalizer settings can be adjusted in the middle of gameplay through the Control Center.
