In a tweet today, Tom Cannon posted a short video talking about the progress of Riot’s upcoming 2v2 fighting game.
Citing Riot’s track record with League of Legends and Legends of Runeterra, he confirmed that Project L would indeed be free to play.
“If you’ve played a fighting game before this probably won’t come as a surprise”, Cannon says.
While not going into the specifics, he did mention that they would have “respectful” monetization.
“When it comes to monetization, we promise to be both respectful of both your time and your wallet”.
Project L is currently one of the most hotly-anticipated fighting games, featuring 2v2 combat based on characters from League of Legends.
In a dev blog they’ve even revealed a new champion for the upcoming game, the character Illaoi.
While they haven’t gone into specifics about that either, it looks like the character will be a brawler archetype, using her giant totem with support from her God’s tentacles.
“One of the main things we identified early was that she was going to be a big body: A huge hurtbox, massive hits, and slower movement, with a simple-to-learn, hard-to-master kit”, the dev blog reads.
It’s unknown if this will be all the news from Project L, with EVO set for this weekend.
