Predator Helios 300 Special Edition Review – The white and gold design adds a touch of class

Those who have been following the news on gaming laptops should probably know, or at least heard about Predator Helios 300. The powerful gaming laptop is featuring a stylish black and red design, and Acer has actually launched a special edition that comes in classy white and gold design. Here is our review of the new Predator Helios 300 Special Edition!

Design

Predator Helios 300 Special Edition is definitely a head-turner especially for females. Comes in an aluminium body, the laptop looks elegant in its pure white theme with gold accents. The Predator logo is in gold as well, which it sits at the middle of the lid just like the normal Helios 300’s.

The standard Predator Helios 300 features a backlit keyboard with red LED lights and red colour highlights on the WASD keys. The Special Edition gets the same backlit keyboard, only that it lights up in white and the WASD keys are highlighted in gold.

The Special Edition laptop also ships with a few matching accessories including earphones, mousepad and mouse. Our favourite among the accessories is the mouse that comes in gold on the upper part, and white colour on the bottom part. The mouse wheel and Predator logo light up in cool-looking red as well!

Predator Helios 300 Special Edition Specifications

Similar to Predator Helios 300, the Special Edition is featuring powerful specifications too. The model we get is powered by an i7-8750H processor, GeForce GTX 1060 graphics and 8GB DDR4 RAM. Along with 256GB PCle and 1TB HDD, you can expect it to store and run any AAA games at ease.

Its Full HD IPS display is 15.6-inch big with a refresh rate up to 144Hz. This eliminates the motion blur on display for a better gaming experience. On the cooling aspect, the Special Edition is having Acer’s exclusive all-metal AeroBlade 3D Fan. It is able to maintain a normal hardware temperature even after a few hours of non-stop gaming. Using the PredatorSense app, you can control, overclock and customize laptop settings such as hotkeys and fan speed.

The Verdict

Predator Helios 300 Special Edition‘s gaming performance doesn’t disappoint. Playing Overwatch and CS:GO on it feel seamless and lag-free thanks to its 144Hz display and great specs. Aside from the performance, its design that comes mainly in white gets dirty pretty easily, so you shall take extra care on it. Scratches show up very obviously as well.
