The Porsche eSport racing event has finally come to a dramatic end. The first-ever collaboration between Porsche and Forza Motorsport 7 saw over 400 racers competing for the Porsche Asia Pacific Forza Cup, with the Grand Finals livestreamed across social media.
“The first regional Esports tournament presented by Porsche Asia Pacific and Porsche Australia, in partnership with Forza Motorsport 7, saw nearly 400 virtual drivers from 14 countries putting their racing skills to the test, taking three iconic Porsche race cars, the 918 Spyder, 919 Hybrid, and 911 GT3 RS, onto three of the world’s most challenging tracks at Bathurst, the Nürburgring, and Le Mans” said representatives from Porsche in a press statement.
Though many competed, only one of them could win. That honor fell upon Taylor “LagALot IG” Smith, from Australia.
For his effort, Smith won an all-expenses-paid Driving Programme in Germany at the Porsche Experience Centre.
The other top 16 finalists didn’t walk away empty-handed, either. They won prizes from the Porsche Driver’s Selection, as well as Hugo Boss, official sponsor of the Porsche Asia Pacific Forza Cup.
The event was a tour through Porsche’s history in racing, taking place across various tracks that played an integral part in the brand’s story. Racers were also required to use iconic Porsche cars from across the years.
