Porsche Asia Pacific and Porsche Australia have announced the Porsche Asia Pacific Forza Cup, a sim-racing eSports tournament for the Asia Pacific region. Sign-ups are now open, ahead of the Qualifying races starting 29th September.
Players can sign up for the race via the Porsche Asia Pacific Forza Cup website. The competition will be open to all players with a copy of the game on PC or any current-gen Xbox consoles.
The tournament will see Forza Motorsport 7 racers compete for a shot at Grand Finals. It all starts with the first week of Rivals Qualifying Races from 29th September to 4th October. There will be three weeks of qualifiers, each featuring one of Forza Motorsport 7’s real-world tracks and one of Porsche’s cars.
After the Qualifying races end on the 18th of October, the top 16 will be chosen for the Grand Finals race, on October 31st.
The Big Events
Rivals Qualifying Race Week 1 will take place from 29th September to 4th October. This race will take place on the Bathurst track, where racers will compete using a Porsche 918 Spyder.
Meanwhile, the second race will have racers compete on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, in the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. This track holds some sentimental value for Porsche, as the 918 Spyder previously held the lap time record for this track back in 2013. This round of qualifiers will run from 6th to 11th October.
Finally, the last week of Qualifying will take place on the legendary Le Mans track. This is the site of the 24 hour Le Mans race, and as such, you’ll be driving this one in a thematically appropriate car. For this qualifier, racers will be using the Porsche 919 Hybrid, three-time winner of Le Mans. This round of qualifiers will run from 13th to 18th October.
After this week of fierce competition, the top 16 racers will compete in two final races- Grand Finals, to be exact. The first of these will be on the Silverstone track. You may have seen this track during the F1 British Grand Prix. After that, they’ll compete on the Hockenheimring, home of the German GP. These races will both be completed using the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport. This event will take place on 31st October.
