The MSC 2018 tournament that was held in Jakarta on the 27th to 29th July 2018 had caused an uproar among Malaysians due to errors the organizers have made. Fans of AirAsia Saiyan, a Malaysian team, had made comments and protests against the organizers of the MSC 2018 tournament due to their negligence over their set of rules. It turns out, there were two separate rule books which were signed by AirAsia Saiyan and Aerowolf. But to know how that happened, let’s take a look at the MSC drama breakdown explained by Spartanic Entertainment:

Based on the breakdown, AirAsia Saiyan qualified to go to the semi-finals as they had a higher KDA that breaks the tie against Aerowolf based on the rule book and the contract they signed. In the case of a tie like these, KDA will be taken into account first and if in the case of another tie, head to head will be taken into account. However, there was a new rule book that was passed around to teams when the tournament was still running.
Below are the rules and regulations that were signed by AirAsia Saiyan:
Based on the rule book, the rule in the case of a tie has changed. Instead of taking KDA into account first, the team’s head to head will be taken into account first – which just makes Aerowolf qualify for the semi-finals instead. Note that this rule book was also issued ONLY AFTER AirAsia Saiyan won against DDPG. Of course, AirAsia Saiyan weren’t happy about it and confronted with the MSC Committee and got their spot in the semi-finals.
Here’s a post from the perspective of AirAsia Saiyan:

But that’s not the end of it, as Aerowolf seemed to really want to get into the semi-finals as well and didn’t want to take that loss. So Aerowolf together with Moonton AND RevivalTV had a discussion with AirAsia Saiyan and made a proposal – AirAsia Saiyan to have a rematch with Aerowolf and should AirAsia Saiyan refuse, they are disqualified from the tournament. This just left AirAsia Saiyan with no choice but to protest by pulling out from the tournament.
While that being said, RevivalTV has not released any official statement yet. Though this is a huge mistake made by RevivalTV, the organizer for this year’s MSC 2018, a mistake such as having two different rule books signed pretty much needs a really good justification. Fans from all over the world of the game and the tournament were disappointed with the organizers but we still hope that there’ll be an explanation on the whole fiasco.
However the official Mobile Legends: Bang Bang had released their side of the story, apologizing to MLBB and MSC fans:

Even the Malaysian Sports Minister, YB Syed Saddiq got involved!
Saya akan dapatkan laporan penuh berkenaan kes ini dan bincangkan tindakan susulan.

As the issue went on to gain even more publicity, the Menteri Sukan Malaysia YB Syed Saddiq had also intervened in the issue. As seen in the Twitter post, Mariah Ahmad from Astro Awani – a supporter of eSports, had plead YB Syed Saddiq’s help to look into the case. Thanks to that, her plea was heard and YB Syed Saddiq will be looking into the case and will take the best course of action needed.
So tell us what are your thoughts on this case? With MLBB’s official statement posted up, we’re pretty much in-the-know now on what has transpired during the event. Do we still need to wait for RevivalTV’s official statement as well? Wonder how this case will proceed. Leave your comments down in the article if you have them! 😀
