Pokemon unite is about to see two major updates: the game will be seeing a new tournament mode and it will also be featured at the 2022 Pokemon World Championships.
The 2022 Pokemon World Championships are an annual event that sees Pokemon fans around the world gather to compete in a number of grand tournaments for various Pokemon games.
These include the main series of Pokemon video games (in this case for Pokemon Sword and Shield), the Pokemon Trading Card Game, Pokken Tournament, and Pokemon Go.
Starting this year, Pokemon Unite players and teams will be able to truly unite in their own section of the 2022 Pokemon World Championships. This tournament like be live-streamed across the world and players will compete for cash prizes. More details about the game’s place in the World Championships will be given at a later date.
This will be the first time a Pokemon World Championships has been held since 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It will take place in London, England this August.
It was also announced that there is a new tournament mode coming to Pokemon unite. Producer Masaaki Hoshino says that the new tournament mode is “designed to even the playing field for competitors, regardless of their held item grades”. Like with the World Championships, more details about the new mode will come in the following months.
Finally, it was also announced that Pokemon Unite will now be available in six new languages: Bahasa Indonesia, Brazilian Portuguese, Hindi, Russian, Thai, and Turkish.
Pokemon Unite is available for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
