The Pokémon TCG Pocket Operations Team has unveiled their roadmap for upcoming features, promising significant expansions to the popular mobile game. In an official statement released today, the team outlined several key updates planned for the next few months including trading.
Trading has been a cornerstone of the Pokémon Trading Card Game experience since its inception, and its absence in TCG Pocket has been notably felt by the community since launch, with the feature remaining grayed out in the Social Hub menu. This is set to change, as the developers have now confirmed a concrete timeline for its implementation. The trading feature is set to launch in January 2025.
“To begin with, we plan to add new booster packs by the end of the year. In addition, we are aiming to add a feature that allows certain cards to be traded starting in January, 2025. We are planning to gradually expand the selection of cards that are able to be traded,” stated the Operations Team in their community letter.

The team notes that trading will initially be limited to “certain cards,” with plans to gradually expand the tradeable card selection over time. The development team also teased additional features currently in development, though specific details were not disclosed. More information about these features will be announced as their release dates are finalized.
The announcement comes on the heels of the game’s impressive milestone of reaching 30 million downloads just over a week after its launch. While recent datamines suggest possible card releases in December and January, the team has not officially confirmed these dates.
