The highly-anticipated Pokemon Sinnoh Remake has been announced, as of tonight’s Pokemon 25th anniversary stream.
The games, titled Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, will be released late 2021, and is a little more complex than just adding 4th gen assets to Pokemon Sword And Shield.
Instead, the Pokemon Sinnoh Remake has a new art direction, following the chibi overworld used in the original Diamond and Pearl games. However, rather than use the pixel art style of the games, it uses 3D models to recreate the same overworld.
It also features a slightly more bright artstyle, looking a little more like the Let’s Go series than the more cartoony-lit mainline Pokemon games.
For those who aren’t fans of the chibi art style, however, you’ll be pleased to know that the battles retain the full body sprites, and look more similar to what players are familiar with a la Sword and Shield.
It looks like the game will be a more faithful remake of the Sinnoh region Pokemon games, featuring many things from that era including the Pokemon Centre basement as the game’s multiplayer hub.
They haven’t given more information such as the inclusion of newer features like Mega Evolutions or Gigantamax, though, but they’ll probably reveal more closer to the game’s release.
