During the newest Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trailer that was released yesterday on the 8th September 2022, we were shown off a ton of new information about the new titles, but there was a feature that was glimpse over and that’s the new mechanic of Auto Battles.
During the 0:45 minute mark in the video when the player was battling against a horde of Houndours, we were able to see the trainer’s Makuhita and Oricorio battle in a slightly different way than we would normally see.
While we had no context during the trailer, we finally get to know more about that mechanic from the official dedicated Pokemon Scarlet and Violet website.
Let’s Go! Mechanic
From the website, the name for this Auto battle mechanic is called “Let’s Go!” and lets you direct one of your Pokemon that is out and walking with you off to the direction that you indicate. The Pokemon that you send out also is able to independently pics up items within the area and even Auto Battle with nearby Pokemon.
When your Pokemon is out and engaging in Auto Battles, you can pretty much do what you want where you can stay by its side to watch over it, or try looking for items nearby. And by defeating any wild Pokémon in Auto Battles, your Pokemon can also earn items and Exp. Points.
So from that, we can confirm that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be having one of the highly requested Pokemon following you feature return ever since it was first introduced back in Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver.
The Auto Battle feature could also make grinding up your team a lot less tedious now that you can pretty much just have your Pokemon roam around while it defeats any wild Pokemon, although there isn’t any mention about the Auto Battles working with trainer battles.
From the screenshots we also get to see that there we will be getting a mini map on the bottom right corner of the screen which can be pretty useful since you don’t have to open up your menu and click on map everytime you want to access it.
