Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have gotten their first trailer since their announcement and they looked better than ever.
It certainly is true when they say that beta footage is not final. While the original trailer’s graphics were hotly debated among fans, the finalized version we see in this new trailer looks far more polished. Much more akin to the Link’s Awakening Remake.
Beyond that, the game clearly wishes to faithfully recreate the original games. The underground, stickers, contests, and other quirks of Sinnoh are all back along with its notable cast of characters. Team Galactic is preparing to destroy the world and Cynthia is uncovering the mysteries of Sinnoh’s myths.
With that being said there are still some interesting new features so it’s not a 1-1 remake. Like in Sword and Shield, wild pokemon now appear on the overworld world map so no more random encounters. Pokemon in your party can also follow you behind you, a much-loved addition to the games. Finally, you can now also customize your chibi character with an assortment of different outfits.
We haven’t gotten confirmation of news levels or the distortion world of platinum but it seems there will be new areas in the form of the ‘Grand Underground’ that will have exclusive pokemon. This is likely to allow for the expanded Pokedex of Platinum. I doubt it’s a coincidence that the trailer shows a fire-based level, likely to ensure players they’ll have more options for fire types outside of Chimchar and Ponyta.
There will also be a new Nintendo Switch Lite decked out with Dialga and Palkia. A direct homage to the Onyx Nintendo DS with a similar design, created for the original Diamond and Pearls release. This will release on November 5th.
Pokmon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will be available for Nintendo Switch on November 19th. They are now available for pre-order on the Nintendo Eshop and retailers.
It’s a good time to be a Pokemon fan. New pokemon are coming to Pokemon Unite. New clothes are coming to Uniqlo. And new games. What a time.
