The Pokémon Company has officially announced the Pokemon Asia Players Cup 2021! Registrations are now open. It is the very first multi-region online tournament for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield in Asia.
Registration for the tournament opens on 16 August 2021 on the ESL play page.
Players from Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand will battle against other Trainers around Asia to win a ticket to the Pokémon Global Exhibition in October and the Travel award to the 2022 Pokémon World Championships.
Qualifiers to decide the top players from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand will be held on 28, 29 August, and 4, 5 September 2021
The Grand Finale is happening on 11 September where the top 8 players from each region will battle to be crowned the best Pokémon trainer in Asia.

- The game format will be a Double Battle format.
- Players must have between four and six Pokémon.
- Pokémon above and below Lv. 50 are permitted but will be auto-leveled to Lv. 50during battle.
- Players are not allowed to use duplicate Pokémon.
- Players are not allowed to have duplicate held items.
- The game time limit: 20 minutes
- Team Preview: 90 seconds
- Move time limit: 45 seconds
- Player time (Your Time) limit: 7 minutes
- Players may use Pokémon with the following Pokédex numbers, provided that the Pokemon obtained in Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield were received at an official event or distribution.- Galar Pokédex numbers: #001–397
