The PMPL – PUBG Mobile Pro League – 2020 in Malaysia will be suspended. The brief statement provided is as follows in its entirety:
PUBG Mobile Esports will be suspending the PMPL 2020 tournament in Malaysia for two weeks, starting today.
This is due to the movement control order declared by the Malaysian government to curb the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country. This nationwide order will take into effect from 18 March to 31 March.
While we are saddened to postpone the tournament, the health and safety of PUBG Mobile Esports’ players, teams, fans and staff are our top priority.
We would like to thank you for your support and kind understanding and will keep you informed on when the tournament will resume, once the situation is safe for everyone and subject to local government policy.
The PMPL 2020 getting suspended means just another unfortunate circumstance of an event having to be cancelled due to health concerns. As the coronavirus scare continues, it’s more likely than not that events would be postponed or cancelled than proceeding. It bears repeating that all of us should follow the directives and ensure that we remain hygienic to help prevent the situation from worsening. Fans would have originally be tuning in to the event on Facebook.
