Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially unveiled the gameplay and release date for Concord, its latest live-service title.
Kicking off today’s State of Play, a cinematic trailer as well as gameplay of Concord was revealed, along with a release date of August 23, 2024.
Developed by Firewalk Studios, Concord will launch for the PlayStation 5 and PC, with a pre-launch beta currently planned to run in July.
Concord is a 5v5 team-based first-person hero shooter in a vein similar to Overwatch 2, with each character spotting their own abilities and weapons.
Some characters showcased include Star Child, a big beefy alien with the ability to transform its skin into diamonds, or 1-OFF, a yellow robot that uses a… giant vacuum?
Revealed in a PlayStation Blog post, Concord will feature 16 playable characters at launch, with new story content planned to be added regularly alongside your usual new characters, modes, and more.
Concord runs with a sci-fi setting with vibes straight out of James Gunn’s Guardian of the Galaxy movies with quirky banters and jokes littered all over.
The story follows the crew of the Northstar, a group of larger-than-life guns-for-hire known as Freegunners, roaming the stars taking high-stakes jobs on worlds across Wild space.
As mentioned, Concord will launch on PlayStation 5 and PC on August 23, 2024.
