PlayStation PC is the new label for publishing SIE’s games on the PC platform, showing continued interest by the publisher in expanding outside of pure console exclusivity.
The change was noticed by users checking out the latest PlayStation titles headed to PC, with the publisher having changed names to PlayStation PC LLC on Steam.
This doesn’t really affect anyone except the Evangelists who decried any kind of involvement with the PC platform- because all this means is that the publisher is taking their adoption of the platform more seriously.
Earlier, PlayStation had announced that 2018’s God of War would be the latest title heading to PC, joining the likes of other previously-PlayStation exclusives like Death Stranding and Horizon: Zero Dawn.
It’s no surprise that more exclusives are heading to PC, given SIE CEO Jim Ryan has said that this was already part of the plan in a Fireside Chat earlier this month.
“I’d like to see a world where the games that we make at PlayStation can be enjoyed by many tens of millions of people, perhaps hundreds of millions of people”, Jim said. “Right now, success with the existing console model, you’re talking really great PlayStation hit, you’re talking 10 or 20 million people to play that game”, he said, describing that being purely PlayStation exclusive was limiting.
