Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan recently released a special commercial to commemorate 30 years of PlayStation, celebrated on December 3, 2024. The commercial features a new song “Players” written by the hit pop-duo that brought to life “Racing Into The Night” (Yoru Ni Kakeru) and Oshi No Ko’s “Idol”, YOASOBI.
The commercial’s concept, which is the result of the “Project: MEMORY CARD” initiative that aims to save PlayStation’s memories in the form of music. The song itself was written and based entirely on PlatStation memories sent by fans to Sony Interactive Entertainment and have all been collected and put on a special website. People are able to view all kinds of answers from thousands of fans.

The commercial features three characters Maru (actor Nanase Nishino), Peke (Virtual YouTuber Usada Pekora), and Ki-3 (game streamer KIYO) as they are messing around in Maru’s grandfathers shop as they accidentally uncover a mysterious Memory Card. As they plug the Memory Card into an original PlayStation they start their journey. Travelling through the game worlds of PlatStation, looking back on old memories and experiencing all kinds of new ones
YOASOBI’s song “Players” is available to listen on all music streaming services.
