The image uploaded on the now-locked Reddit thread on the r/discordapp subreddit appears to be evidence that Discord users will soon be able to link to their PlayStation Network account on the app. This is further cemented by the fact that Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Jim Ryan previously stated that the PlayStation integration with Discord will be happening in early 2022.
Following up on the PlayStation icon being spotted on the Connections section of Discord, gaming news site MP1st dived into the script for the beta Discord client and made the following discoveries:
Apparently, PlayStation was mentioned in the beta Discord client alongside the other integrated platforms.
Upon digging further into the code, MP1st confirmed that Discord users will be able to connect to their PlayStation Network account to display the games that they’re playing in their status.
Beyond that, it’s still unknown whether gamers playing on their PlayStation consoles will have the ability to communicate with other Discord users on PC and mobile via the console itself. In any case, be sure to follow Discord on Twitter for any official announcements surrounding the matter.
