Montreal-based Haven Studios has been acquired by PlayStation, joining the PlayStation Studios label of first-party studios.
The announcement was made last night by PlayStation Studios Head Herman Hulst, who welcomed Haven Studios to the creative family.
“Today, I’m delighted to announce that Haven Studios is officially joining PlayStation Studios!”, he says. “Jade Raymond (CEO and founder of Haven Studios) brings a wealth of experience from her industry achievements and an infectious passion for creating games, and the leadership team at Haven is an equally impressive group of industry veterans who have collaborated on some of the biggest and most beloved games and franchises that many of us still enjoy today”.
Haven Studios is a fairly new studio, having only been formed last year with no published titles to their name yet.
Despite this, Jade Raymond herself is anything but green- her credits include Executive Producer on Assassin’s Creed II, as well as working at Visceral Games and Motive Studios before moving to work on the ill-fated Google Stadia.
However, Raymond has mentioned that her team are working on a game for PlayStation already, with a short teaser about what exactly they’re working on:
“Our first new IP for PlayStation is on track to deliver a AAA multiplayer experience with a vision to build a systemic and evolving world focused on freedom, thrill, and playfulness that will keep players entertained and engaged for years:, Raymond says.
