After initial rumours, then confirmation, the Playstation 5 June event, “The Future of Gaming” will be postponed. The event promised a “look at the future of gaming on PlayStation 5” in an event that would have run for about 60 minutes or so. An announcement was made on Twitter, with a simple message:
We have decided to postpone the Playstation 5 event scheduled for June 4.
While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is a time for celebration, and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard.

A prior message on Twitter would explain the most likely reason for the postponement:
We denounce systemic racism and violence against the Black community. We will continue to work towards a future marked b y empathy and inclusion and stand with our Black creators, players, employees, families, and friends.

Xbox has also stepped in showing support for the message:

In any case, right now we’ll stick to having the rumoured list of non-first party games available for the next-gen console until whenever they choose to reschedule the Playstation 5 event. It’ll be a while yet before Holiday 2020, so there’s still time.
