Platinum Games has unveiled its Platinum 4 website, the first of its four announcements being the reveal of The Wonderful 101: Remastered. The game is currently open for funding via Kickstarter, which at time of writing has already gone way past its $50,010 goal at ~$839,000 and rising. From the Kickstarter page, the overview of the game is as follows:
The Wonderful 101 is a “Unite Action” action-adventure game developed by PlatinumGames Inc., directed by action game luminary Hideki Kamiya, and originally released on the Nintendo Wii U.
In this game, players take control of the Wonderful Ones, heroes from all over the world chosen to defend the Earth from all manner extraterrestrial threats! When the peaceful Blossom City comes under attack by alien invaders, Wonder-Red, Wonder-Blue, and the rest of the Wonderful Ones suit up and unite to save the world!
The Wonderful 101: Remastered will be released on Nintendo Switch, with versions for other platforms becoming available via stretch goals. We also plan to add a host of amazing extras as stretch goals are met, with the goal of making The Wonderful 101: Remastered the definitive depiction of our heroes’ exploits!
Stretch goals are currently as follows:
- $50k: Switch version (achieved)
- $250k: Steam version (achieved)
- $500k: PS4 version (achieved)
- $1m: Time Attack version
- $1.5m: Luka’s First Mission
One of the backer rewards is a (optional) block on Twitter by Hideki Kamiya, among a host of other digital and physical goodies that includes figures, Joy-Cons, and Wonder-Red’s jacket.
Platinum Games received investment from Tencent last month to go into self-publishing. Perhaps this is one of the projects coming to fruition? We’ll have to wait and see what further reveals Platinum 4 will provide besides The Wonderful 101: Remastered.
