The popular creative management simulation Planet Zoo, which was previously only available on PC, will be launching on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with the new Console Edition.
As announced, the Planet Zoo: Console Edition will be launching on 26 March 2024 and will be packaged with over 4 years’ worth of features, content, and animals from the free updates of the PC version.
Aside from the free update content, players will also obtain three exclusive animals by pre-ordering the Planet Zoo: Console Edition, namely Pygmy Hippopotamus, Komodo Dragon and Thomson’s Gazelle.
Furthermore, the Console Edition will also support cross-platform sharing via Frontier Workshop, allowing players to share habitats, scenery, and even a whole zoo with others for download.
The standard Console Edition is priced at $49.99, while a more expanded version called Deluxe Edition, is priced at $59.99 and will feature 16 additional animals and 2 additional scenarios from across the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia.
There is also the Ultimate Edition, which includes all Deluxe Content as well as a Season Pass, giving players access to 14 future console downloadable content packs.
Planet Zoo was first launched for PC via Steam on 5 November 2019 and it is Frontier Developments’ BAFTA-nominated creative management simulation about managing a zoo in 4 different game modes: Career, Franchise, Challenge, and Sandbox.
The game also focuses on providing education regarding animal welfare and conservation efforts and has released many post-launch DLC creatures from across different biomes and regions, including Eurasia, Oceania, Australia, South America and more.
Aside from Planet Zoo, British studio Frontier Developments is also known for developing other management simulation titles such as the RollerCoaster Tycoon series, Planet Coaster and the Jurassic World Evolution series.
