Acer showcased its market leadership across Southeast Asia during the launch of the sixth Asia Pacific (APAC) Predator League 2025 in Kuala Lumpur today. At a press conference held at MITEC, Andrew Hou, Acer Asia Pacific President, revealed compelling market data highlighting the company’s strong regional performance.
The Philippines and Thailand emerged as frontrunners in both the overall notebook and gaming notebook markets, with Indonesia securing third place in the general notebook category. Malaysia and Singapore shared third position, demonstrating Acer’s robust presence in these markets. Australia also showed notable performance in the gaming notebook sector, alongside Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
In the consumer desktop segment, the Philippines and Singapore led the rankings, followed by Malaysia and Indonesia. Acer’s success extended to institutional markets, with Indonesia and the Philippines jointly leading the education sector, followed by Singapore and India, while Australia secured third place. In government markets, the Philippines and Indonesia maintained their leading positions, with India in second place, and Malaysia and Thailand sharing third.
The market performance announcement coincided with the launch of this year’s APAC Predator League, featuring 28 teams from 14 regions competing for a USD 400,000 prize pool in Dota 2 and VALORANT. The tournament introduces new elements including two champion avatars, Nero and Yuffy, and a theme song “It Lies Within,” performed in various local languages.
Entertainment highlights include performances by former 2NE1 members Sandara Park and Minzy, alongside Malaysian artists Aina Abdul and Hael Husaini, and Philippine’s G22. The event also features a Coswalk competition and interactive activities, aiming to bridge the gap between gaming enthusiasts and non-gamers.
Local teams have already secured semi-final positions, with Team Xipto Esports competing in VALORANT and Team Myth Avenue Gaming in Dota 2. The Predator League 2025 prize structure includes USD 65,000 for champions, USD 20,000 for first runners-up, and USD 7,500 each for second and third runners-up, with additional MVP and All-Star team awards.
