Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) is getting support from Konami itself, and its esports future looks promising. The game was present at the Penang Esports Festival 2019, and we need a winner, of course! Meet Muhammad Afiq Qusyairi Bin Zamzuri and Muhammad Faizal bin Razali, along with coach Muhammad Azami Jusoh. They’re representatives of SUKMA Terengganu, and we had a chat with them after their win.
Three months of training led up to this championship. They’re understandably happy and grateful over it. It’s good training for them, as they prepare to compete at SUKMA Johor next year.
A coach is important, especially for the duo here. The strategies they use are devised by Muhammad Azami Jusoh, after all. They trained in both solos and pairs to prepare accordingly to the event format, and it paid off.
Since it is a football game, they had to have favourite teams and players, right? Afiq favours Manchester United, with Romelu Lukaku as favourite player. Faizal goes for Belgium, and Eden Hazard for his pick of favourite player.
As esports grows in Malaysia, training up young talent is key. They feel more events like PEF 2019 will help make Malaysia more prominent in the world of esports. The player duo have been gaming since the Playstation 2 days along with PC. They have support from their family as they pursue competitive gaming, which is necessary should they want to grow further.
Coach Muhammad Azami Jusoh advises youth interested in esports to avoid doing non-beneficial activities. Don’t be shy to ask more experienced people in this field. Win or lose, you should always do your best in any event you participate in.
You can look forward to seeing more of Afiq and Faizal as SUKMA Terengganu representatives at SUKMA Johor. Congratulations on the win, and best of luck for the future!
