PATAPON 1+2 REPLAY Coming To PS5, Switch And PC On July 11

In cooperation with Sony Interactive Entertainment, Bandai Namco Entertainment and developer SAS have announced PATAPON 1+2 REPLAY for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. The game will be ready to launch globally on July 11.

PATAPON is an action packed rhythm game that allows players to use four mystical drums to control eye-ball like creatures known as the Patapon. Each creature has its own set of characteristics and qualities, like the center of the squad, the Hatapon or the protectors the Tatepon and even the attackers, Yumipon. The role of each Patapon varies from different classes that will allow players to take on battles in unique and different strategies.

It is the duty of the player, the God of the Patapons to lead the other Patapons on their journey to Earthend through musical rhythm and strategical thinking.

Both PATAPON 1 and 2 were released consecutively for the PlayStation Portable in 2007 and 2008 and have returned with a remaster 19 years later in a combined set. The mechanics of the game involve 2 elements which is simple controls and strategized combat.

The controls of PATAPON rely on the four rhythmic drums with beats consisting of  [Pata(←), Pon(→), Don(↓), Chaka(↑)]. The Patapons can be created and enhanced with items that can be gathered by stronger Patapons from multiple stages and minigames.

The remaster also includes newer features such as adjusting the standard difficulties between Easy, Normal and Hard as well as adjusting the timing of button presses and have the option to keep the drum icon on the screen at all times.

The official trailer for PATAPON 1+2 REPLAY was released during Nintendo Direct 2025. No other news has been confirmed but stay tuned until July to receive more updates soon!
