The remake of the GameCube classic Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door now has an official release date, as announced in celebration of Mario Day 2024.
In celebration of Mario Day, March 10, 2024, Nintendo announced that Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake is set to release on the Switch on May 23, 2024.
The much-beloved RPG was first released for the GameCube in 2004 and is the second game in the Paper Mario series.
Borrowing many gameplay elements from its predecessor, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door has a turn-based battle system that emphasizes timing moves correctly.
Universally praised and lauded for its engaging plot and gameplay, the game won the “Role Playing Game of the Year” award at the 2005 Interactive Achievement Awards.

Many fans considered the title to be the best RPG in the Mario series, and now fans would only need to wait for another 2 months before re-experiencing Paper Mario’s adventure two decades after the original.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door was not the only classic title that received some love on MAR10 Day 2024 as Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD also now has an official date and three Game Boy Mario titles will be available on Nintendo Switch Online this week.
The Super Mario Bros Movie is also announced to be getting a sequel and is set for a 2026 release.
