The Pacific Rim anime, Pacific Rim: The Black, unveiled a new trailer to hype up its release. Pacific Rim: The Black will air on 4th March. You can watch the trailer here:
Set in the same universe as the Pacific Rim films, Pacific Rim: The Black focuses on two teenaged siblings in Australia. They will fight against the Kaiju, piloting a duo-piloted Jaeger.
As a Netflix anime, it makes sense for Pacific Rim: The Black not to air in the usual release window. It will also have only 7 30-minute episodes. Polygon Pictures, who were in charge of Ajin: Demi-Human and Netflix’s Godzilla anime movie trilogy, is animating the anime.
Kyle Craig of Thor: Ragnarok acclaim is the showrunner of the anime. Joining him is Greg Johnson, the writer of X-Men: Evolution.
Here is how Netflix describes it:
There was a time when Kaiju rose from the Pacific Rim only to encounter gigantic robots, Jaegers, built to fight them back. That time has passed. Now, Australia has been overrun by Kaiju, forcing the evacuation of an entire continent. Left behind, teenage siblings Taylor and Hayley embark on a desperate search for their missing parents, teaching themselves to pilot a battered, long-abandoned Jaeger to help in their quest and give them even the slightest hope of surviving.
