A gameplay trailer was released for the collaboration between Overwatch 2 and Gundam Wing, which launches today.
This collaboration is in celebration of 30 years since Mobile Suit Gundam Wings was first released. Honoring the legacy of Gundam Wing while also serving as a new beginning for a wider audience outside of the Gundam community as well as the futuristic fans of Overwatch.
The gameplay trailer showcased four special Gundam skins for the following characters:
- Mercy – Wing Zero
- Ramattra – Epyon
- Soldier 76 – Tallgeese
- Reaper – Deathscythe

Considering that Mercy was already hinted to be a confirmed character for this collaboration way back in the early teasers posted on social media, the addition of the three other characters is certainly an exciting mix that many fans will surely look forward too.
An interview between GameSpot and Overwatch 2 art director Dion Rogers and associate director of product management Aimee Dennett states that when choosing these specific characters, a lot of factors were put down for it.
The team narrowed their choices with characters that are a better fit and the ones who would be an odd-one-out in the collab. There were also factors such as if certain character hadn’t received any skins in a while or which ones will surprise players the most. Certain combinations were then obvious for thematic or visual reasons.

These skins will come with a variety goods from Overwatch 2’s in-game shop. All four Legendary skin bundles can also be picked up upon purchasing the Overwatch 2 x Gundam Wing Mega Bundle. When players jump into Overwatch 2, they can complete new in-game challenges in order to earn free additional cosmetics such as the Gundamari weapon charm.
The event will run from April 29 until May 12. Follow the official Overwatch X account to be kept up to date with any upcoming news and visit their official website to learn more.
