Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced the collaboration between Overwatch 2 and the iconic anime, Cowboy Bebop.
The collaboration was announced through an official trailer, accompanied by the classic anime aesthetic and the iconic opening song ‘Tank!’
In the trailer, five characters are confirmed to receive skins from the collaboration, them being:
- Cassidy as Spike Spiegel
- Ashe as Faye Valentine (with a Red Tail-inspired Bob)
- Mauga as Jet Black
- Sombra as Ed
- Wrecking Ball as the Corgi Ein
Among these, Blizzard has confirmed that the Wrecking Ball skin will be free to all players when the event begins on March 12th, 2024.
Around a month ago, the collaboration between Overwatch 2 and Cowboy Bebop was already teased at the end of the Season 9 trailer, where the familiar opening theme plays as the camera shifts to a jukebox in the Route 66 map.
Needless to say, the aesthetic in which the trailer presents itself pays homage to the 1998 classic. With every scene carrying the feel of Cowboy Bebop, below are some screenshots from the trailer itself.
