It has been announced at the Xbox Bethesda showcase that Overwatch 2 will be launching via early access on October 4th as a free-to-play title.
The showcase also gave us a first look at a new character being added to the game, the 34th hero in Overwatch overall: The Australian Junker Queen.

The early access launch will primarily feature the game’s five versus five PVP mode. More information about the Overwatch 2 early access will be revealed at a separate event being held on the 16th of June at 10:00 AM PT (01:00 AM MYT) on the official Overwatch Youtube and Twitch channels.
According to Business Wire, President of Blizzard Entertainment Mike Ybarra said regarding the game:

This is the beginning of an always-on and always-evolving era for the franchise, and a recommitment to serving players with frequent and substantial updates planned well into the future to keep Overwatch 2 fresh and fun for many years to come.”
Overwatch 2 will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC when it launches in October via Early Acess.
