Blizzard has just announced that Overwatch 2 will finally be having cross-progression where players will be able to merge multiple Overwatch accounts. Players will be able carry their progression as well as in-game cosmetics into Overwatch 2 on a single profile.
Starting from 17th August, every Overwatch player with a linked console account will be prompt to login to identify, select and confirm the accounts that you want to merge. After the approval, Blizzard will prepare your accounts to be merged during the release of Overwatch 2.
Regardless of the platform, all players will need to have a battle net account to play Overwatch 2 and the progress from linked console accounts will be stored on your battle net account, which will share in-game cosmetics as well as progress across the linked accounts.
Blizzard also has a FAQ page about some of the common questions for the cross-progression. One of which is the list of platforms that is included in the account merging, which are Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Although, there will be only one opportunity to merge console accounts and only one account per platform can be linked together. So for example, if you have two accounts on PC, you will not be able to merge those accounts.
