A new teaser for the live-action adaptation of writer Aka Akasaka and artist Mengo Yokoyari’s Oshi no Ko manga series has just been revealed along with more details and a release date.
As revealed, the Oshi no Ko live-action series will debut on Amazon Prime Video worldwide on November 28, 2024, while the sequel film will premiere in theaters on December 20, 2024. The series will have a total of 8 episodes.
Additionally, details of the staff behind the production have also been revealed.
The director of the film is known by the mononym Smith, who previously worked on Inside Mari, I Want to Hold Aono-kun So Badly I Could Die, as well as music videos for Ikimono-gakari, Ketsumeishi, and Snowman.
Helming the TV series with Smith is former actress Hana Matsumoto, who you may know from Kimi to Nara Koi o Shitemite mo. Ryūsuke Imoto from Toei is producing the adaption.
Ayako Kitagawa of Tokyo Love Story and Laid-Back Camp is writing the scripts while the band fox capture plan, who previously worked on Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai and Lupin III vs. Cat’s Eye, is composing the music.

As previously revealed, the cast includes:
- Kaito Sakurai (Blue Spring Ride, Vivant) as Aqua Hoshino
- Nagisa Saitō (Former =LOVE idol group member) as Ruby Hoshino
- Asuka Saitō (Former Nogizaka46 idol group member, I Will Be Someone’s Girlfriend) as Ai Hoshino
- Nanoka Hara (Suzume, Listen to Me!) as Kana Arima
- Mizuki Kayashima (Saikō no Kyōshi: 1-nen-go, Watashi wa Seito ni ■ Sareta) as Akane Kurokawa
- Ano (Tiger & Bunny 2, Chainsaw Man) as Memcho
Written by Aka Akasaka, whose best known for their work on Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari who worked on Scum’s Wish, the Oshi no Ko manga began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump in 2020.
The series later got an anime adaptation in April 2023 produced by the studio Doga Kobo and received high acclaim. The second season was also announced and will begin airing next month.
