The original singers behind Studio Ghibli’s most beloved soundtracks will take the stage for a one-night-only symphonic concert this summer. “The Music of STUDIO GHIBLI – Original Singers Symphony” will make its Singapore debut at The Star Theatre on June 11, 2025, featuring the authentic voices that helped define some of animation’s most iconic musical moments.

The exclusive performance brings together four celebrated vocalists whose voices have become synonymous with the emotional core of Studio Ghibli’s filmography. Acclaimed countertenor Yoshikazu Mera, known for his haunting rendition of Princess Mononoke’s theme, will be joined by veteran voice actress Sumi Shimamoto, who voiced characters in classics like Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and My Neighbor Totoro.
Also performing will be Azumi Inoue, whose gentle vocals graced Laputa: Castle in the Sky and My Neighbor Totoro, alongside her daughter Yuyu, who has carved out her own following since debuting on NHK’s Minna no Uta in 2012.

Additionally, the singers will be accompanied by the Tokyo Asia Orchestra, a 17-piece ensemble led by distinguished violinist and concertmaster Takeshi Hashima, who brings extensive experience conducting Ghibli-themed performances worldwide.
Moreover, for fans of Japanese animation and orchestral music, this concert represents a rare opportunity to experience the emotional resonance of these soundtracks performed by their original vocalists. The performance promises to span the full range of Ghibli’s musical landscape, from ethereal ballads to adventurous anthems. Ticket details for this exclusive event will be announced soon.
