In the tweet, a short 17-second video displayed the teams and the brands involved in creating the new title. Lucasfilm Games managed to rope in Ubisoft to help bring the game to life.
At the helm of this project is Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment studio. Massive Entertainment is the studio that brought Tom Clancy’s The Division and Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 to life. Given Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment’s history in creating large, open-world games, the unnamed Star Wars game will most likely be huge, possibly even taking place across multiple worlds.
The Division 2‘s creative director, Julian Gerighty, is reprising the same role for this project. In an interview with Ubisoft news, Gerighty revealed that he is a huge Star Wars fan.
Previously, major Star Wars gaming titles have always been under EA. With the announcement of Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment Star Wars title, Lucasfilm Games has sticked to its word when the newly-launched brand stated that it will open doors to new developers.
Besides Ubisoft, Lucasfilm Games also announced that a new Indiana Jones game is being developed together with Bethesda’s MachineGames studio. You can read more about it here.
