NetEase’s Onmyoji is an extremely popular strategy mobile game that has gained over 200 million downloads worldwide and now China is making a movie adaption of it! The Onmyoji movie is reported to have finished filming recently, while the expected movie release date (for China) is set in 2020.
The movie adaptation will feature Chinese actor Chen Kun (陈坤) as the protagonist. The story will be set in the Wuyue (吴越) period, where evil spirits have evaded the city. The Onmyoji, namely QingYun (秦云) stands out to fight the evil forces in order to protect the citizens.
