The all new open-world survival craft multiplayer game, Once Human was released on Steam on July 9, 2024. The game has currently received mixed reviews so far.
Once Human will also be released on Android and iOS. Pre-installation is available now for both platforms.
“Once Human” is a multiplayer open-world survival game set in a bizarre, post-apocalyptic future. Players unite with friends to combat monstrous enemies, uncover secret plots, compete for resources, and build their own territories. In this world reshaped by a catastrophic event known as Starfall, players, who were once merely human, now have the power to remake the world.
The game has seen an all time peak of 231,668 players since its launch, reflecting strong initial interest. However, player reception has been mixed, based on over 23,000 reviews. As with all new games, Once Human has multiple bugs as well as performance issues.
The Good and the Bad
Many players have mentioned that they can’t believe it’s a free-to-play game with the aesthetics it currently has. It also has tons of playable content for a game that was recently released leading to more positive feedback for the game.
However, some players were mentioning in the reviews that the game will go through a server wipe every season. If they want to get their items back, they would need to buy them back. This lead to players leaving a negative review as well as mentioning they would not stay if that happened after the first season. Others have mentioned that the optimization was bad enough that their CPU is suffering from intense heat after playing Once Human.
Despite the criticism, Once Human’s player base will probably keep increasing as the game improves. Speaking of recently released games, The First Descendant has also just been released on Steam not too long ago, reaching a concurrent player count of 230k at launch.
