The Japanese version of Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent is getting a NieR Automata Collaboration, bringing the iconic androids of YoRHA to the game.
The collab has already started, with the featured banners will run until March 17th in a special step-up banner.
According to the trailers, the NieR Automata collab for Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent will see 2B, 9S and A2 all come to the game as special characters, complete with their own moves.
These moves are naturally all references to NieR Automata, such as 2B having the self destruct sequence from the game or A2’s berserk mode.
This is actually the second collab coming to Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, following a Bravely Default collab held previously.
Considering all three of the titles are owned by Square Enix, it makes sense that fans might look forward to this coming to the global version of the game once it gets released if they want to pull their favorite androids.
NieR Automata is the wildly successful follow-up to Yoko Taro’s NierR: Replicant, which saw the series catapulted into a much more mainstream audience.
The characters have featured in a variety of mobile games published by Square Enix, such as SINoALICE and NieR: Re[in]Carnation
