Square Enix has apparently filed for an English trademark for Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent in Japan on 8 December 2021. The game launched in Japan 28 October 2020, and fans may have discovered the dreaded region lock – at least on launch. The trademark is probably the first tangible possibility of Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent getting an English version.
If you were unaware, Champions of the Continent is a mobile game set in the same continent of the console Octopath, and serves as a prequel to the title. Many original Travelers join the cast, with eight of them in your party at any time. Of course, the console’s protagonists have also joined the game as gacha characters, besides the Bravely Default series crossover characters joining in the fun.
The game’s story comprises of three “main” arcs, each capped with a villain “representing” Wealth, Fame and Power. It has since celebrated its first anniversary in Japan, with yet an official announcement regarding this potential localization.
In any case, there’s only more waiting you can do, so stay tuned to the official channels – such as its Twitter account – to find out if indeed, more Travelers can partake in learning the history of Osterra.
