Square Enix has announced that Octopath Traveler 2 will be released for Nintendo Switch on February 24th, 2023.
The game was announced in the recent Nintendo Direct. You can watch the trailer here:
“Eight new travelers journey through the land of Solistia, each with their own story to tell. What will happen when their paths intertwine, and where will their adventures lead them … and you?”
The original Octopath Traveler was released for Nintendo Switch in 2018. The game is often considered the first major RPG released for the console. It also pioneered the 2D-HD art style consisting of high-definition sprite work. The art style was later used for Square Enix titles, Triangle Strategy, and Live A Live.
Like the original game, Octopath Traveler 2 will see you take control of eight different characters with their own goals and stories for traveling around the land. The game uses a turn base battle system as well as a job system to change the characters into different classes.
Octopath Traveler 2 will release for the Nintendo Switch on February 24th, 2023. The original Ocotpath Traveler was a timed exclusive that was released for PC around a year after it did for Switch. It is possible that the sequel will do the same.
