Apparently, publisher Ubisoft is seemingly suspending inactive accounts, which prevents players from accessing the games they purchased.
The news went viral when Twitter user, @PC_enjoyer shared a screenshot of a Ubisoft support email.
The Ubisoft email warns the user that their account is deemed inactive, temporarily suspended, and will be permanently closed within a 30-day window if they did not issue a closure cancellation.

The tweet later received a response from a verified Ubisoft Support account.
“We just wanted to chime in that you can avoid the account closure by logging into your account within the 30 days (since receiving the email pictured) and selecting the Cancel Account Closure link contained in the email.” writes Ubisoft Support.
“We certainly do not want you to lose access to your games or account so if you have any difficulties logging in then please create a support case with us.”
Note that you do not have to log in every month to prevent account closure, but if you’ve received a Ubisoft email regarding the issue, you have 30 days to issue a closure cancellation before you lose your account.
Ubisoft also claimed that they do not deactivate accounts that are inactive for less than 4 years.
According to Ubisoft’s official website, they assure us that they do not automatically deactivate any inactive accounts.
However, as part of their Terms of Use, Ubisoft may immediately suspend some inactive accounts to comply with local data protection legislation.
Ubisoft may also close any long-term inactive accounts to maintain their database and users will be notified by email if any account closure is in progress.
Users can cancel their Ubisoft account closure by pressing the Cancel Account Closure link written in the email and continue using them even when flagged as inactive.
We have tested on our end with an account that is inactive for 6 months and it is still accessible.
