A new Omega Update has been officially released for No Man’s Sky, with the game also receiving a free trial.
The Omega Expedition promises a complete overhaul of expeditions, new on-planet missions, a new pirate dreadnought to own, and much more.
In a PlayStation blog post, Sean Murray, Founder of Hello Games, stated:
“Expeditions in No Man’s Sky have become one of the most popular ways to play the game, they bring all players together to the same planet for an interstellar, shared experience.”
“This weekend we are allowing everyone, whether you own the game or not, to join the Omega Expedition.”
He also expressed that with this update, he wants to integrate expeditions into the main game, instead of it being a separate game mode.
The core of the update comes from the Omega Expedition, which was built as a thorough introduction for new players, with it holding some of the best rewards in any expedition to date, including a new starship to explore the universe with.
According to the post, the Omega Expedition focuses on guiding players through the fundamentals of the game through quick missions and milestones.
Any progress made will be saved if players choose to buy the full game after the free trial.
The full Omega Expedition will span for two weeks, with a free trial being available for the first weekend from today to 19th February 2024.
