Nippon Ichi Software has announced an ambitious lineup of five new games spanning multiple genres, set for release across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch platforms over the next two years. The diverse collection includes a dark dungeon RPG, a side-scrolling action adventure with a unique predation mechanic, an action RPG from the team behind Disgaea, a horror adventure focused on curses, and a picture book-inspired action adventure.
Gobble – Side-Scrolling Action with Monster Abilities
Scheduled for release in 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, Gobble is part of the five new games which emerged from the Nippon Ichi Software annual internal competition, the “Nippon Ichi Project Festival.” This side-scrolling action game follows a young boy who encounters a talking sickle during a monster attack as he searches for his missing family. The game’s standout mechanic allows players to consume defeated enemies to steal their abilities.
“Gobble” features distinctive American comic-style visuals and cartoon-like animations. The game was conceived by a second-year employee at Nippon Ichi Software, who now serves as the project’s development manager. Previous titles that originated from this internal contest include “htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary” and “The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince.”
Curse – Dark Dungeon RPG with Curse Mechanics
“Curse,” releasing in 2025 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, is a dark dungeon RPG centered around its namesake. Players take on the role of an adventurer tasked with saving a town plagued by a curse while exploring dungeons filled with hidden treasures.

The game features a traditional command battle RPG format with turn-based battles that split the party into vanguard and rearguard positions. Players can choose from various classes including Fighter, Barbarian, Archer, Paladin, and Sorcerer, with more classes expected to be revealed. The unique risk-reward system involves curses that befall players due to enemy attacks, treasure chest traps, or certain locations – these curses can be brought back to town and purified to strengthen the player.
Kyouran – Action RPG from the Disgaea Team
Developed by the main staff behind the Disgaea series, “Kyouran” is an action RPG coming to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch in 2026. The game promises deep character development and side activities not typically found in action RPGs, including Disgaea-style features like level caps of 9999 and damage exceeding 100 million points.

Set in a vast world where various monsters compete for dominance, players take on the role of a mercenary who uses weapons and special skills to clear out monsters before facing giant bosses. Additional elements include the ability to befriend monsters to fight alongside in battle or use them as weapons.
Additionally, key staff includes Development Manager Shunsuke Minowa (Disgaea 7, Bar Stella Abyss), Character Designer Takehito Harada (Disgaea series), and Composer Tenpei Sato (Disgaea series, Phantom Brave).
Renzu – Horror Adventure with Death Curses
“Renzu,” releasing in Summer 2025 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, is a horror adventure game portraying “curses as pure fear.” Players take on the role of a reporter for an occult magazine who becomes cursed while investigating rumors about a death curse at a haunted location.
As a countdown to death begins, players must search for clues to solve the curse’s mystery, with the curse growing stronger as the investigation progresses. Additionally, the gameplay involves gathering information about the curse, visiting haunted sites, and taking spirit photographs that reveal past events, gradually unveiling the mystery behind the curse.
Shinigami Hime – Picture Book Action Adventure
The third installment in the series following “The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince” and “The Cruel King and the Great Hero,” “Shinigami Hime” is coming to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch in 2026. This action adventure game continues the theme of a picture book-like world that appeals to adults as well as younger players.

Like its predecessors, the game features a monster and human as main characters. It showcases Sayaka Oda’s signature hand-drawn graphics but portrays a darker, more unusual world focused on young girls suffering from trauma, whose altered picture book worlds are housed within a strange library.
Moreover, players must collect “memory fragments” scattered throughout the picture book to return to the human world, using the powers of a goat monster that can eat and destroy the picture book world, and a girl who can alter the paper-made backgrounds.
