With continuous discussions regarding Nintendo Switch 2’s game pricing, the president of Nintendo of America Doug Bowser has expressed his understanding over the fact that there are consumers who may not afford the system.
Bowser has commented on the cost of Switch 2 games in a recent interview with the CBC. He has highlighted that Nintendo will still have the original console available and new games for that console will continue releasing following into 2026.

The president has also stated that when looking into the Switch 2 and its feature sets, the pricing of its games is appropriate to add up to the value and effort put into the machine as well as the experience that comes with it. The firm has recognized the majority of people that may not be able to afford the console at its set price. Which is the reason why they still keep other Switch platforms available at hand so that those who cannot afford the Switch 2 may still be given the chance to explore the gaming world Nintendo continues to offer.
“As we look at Nintendo Switch 2 and you think about the feature sets that I talked about … we believe that the pricing is appropriate for the value of the machine and the gameplay experience overall. We recognize there are some people that may not be able to afford [the Switch 2’s] price point. That’s why we wanted to make the other Switch platforms available, so [people] still have an opportunity to come into our gaming universe, be a part of these characters in these worlds, and see value, if you will, in whatever rung of the platform they come in.”

Switch 2’s pricing still circles around the community with some predicting the terrible possibility of higher prices to be announced.
With pre-orders being delayed in the US due to President Trump’s tariffs development, this will still cause an impact on sales. However, Bowser confirms that despite this the tariffs were not responsible in factoring the $450 price tag for the Switch 2, as the $80 price tag on first-party games such as Mario Kart World remain the same.
