The hypothetical ‘Nintendo Switch 2’ could be coming in 2024, according to a report by VGC.
Citing sources familiar with the matter, this next Nintendo console will supposedly going back to an LCD screen, rather than an OLED screen like the newest Nintendo Switch model.
It will also still retain a physical cartridge slot, as well as a portable mode that was part of the Nintendo Switch’s success.
Given the original Nintendo Switch launched in 2017, there’s been a lot of clamoring for some kind of hardware upgrade for Nintendo’s wildly popular console- rumors had been circulating of a Nintendo Switch Pro model, though that turned out to be the OLED which features no hardware improvements outside of its screen.
This current report about Nintendo’s next console also tracks with another report by Chinese manufacturer PixArt, who was working on parts for a new Japanese console set for launch in 2024.
The manufacturer had previously developed parts for the Nintendo Switch, leading many to speculate that this was some sort of New Nintendo Switch.
Still, given Nintendo’s tendency of releasing their next generation partway through other consoles life cycles, it would track that this model is closer in nature to a Nintendo Switch 2 than some kind of Pro model.
